Nestled in the charming town of Cooperstown, New York, Doubleday Cafe stands out as a beloved dining destination for locals and visitors alike. Located at 93 Main St, Cooperstown, NY 13326, this delightful café offers an inviting atmosphere that caters perfectly to breakfast and lunch enthusiasts. With a convenient proximity to the iconic Baseball Hall of Fame, it's an ideal pit stop for those exploring America’s pastime.
As a food reviewer at Foodjoyy, my experiences at Doubleday Cafe have been nothing short of remarkable. The menu boasts a range of enticing options that promise to satisfy any palate. One standout dish, as raved about by customer Adriano Loayza, is the grilled prime rib melt. Featuring sharp cheddar cheese and crispy fried onions on a toasted hard roll, this sandwich is a flavor bomb that many visitors find themselves craving again and again. Loayza described it as “brutal and absurdly delicious,” highlighting not just the quality of the rib but the overall satisfaction of the meal.
Breakfast and lunch lovers will find themselves spoiled for choice, as Christine Zuba noted during her visit. Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty breakfast or a light lunch, Doubleday Cafe strikes the perfect balance. The reviews consistently mention the fresh, tasty food, and the friendly service that enhances the dining experience. A perfect example of this is indicated in Kristin Klingaman's review where she enjoyed a quick yet fulfilling meal before heading to the museum.
While dining, it’s important to note the popular breakfast items that guarantee a solid start to the day. Lazer [Larry] W highlighted how reasonable the prices are, especially compared to other tourist spots. His recommendation of the hearty breakfast platter featuring two eggs, sausage, and French toast is a testament to the café's dedication to good food and great value.
Even with a few mentions of service hiccups, like in the experience shared by Keith Antaya, the quality of food remains unwaveringly high, making Doubleday Cafe a must-visit. The ambiance, backed by the historical spirit of Cooperstown, creates a warm and inviting setting that adds to the restaurant’s charm.
In essence, Doubleday Cafe is not just a place to eat; it's a gathering spot filled with delicious food, friendly faces, and a community vibe that resonates with every patron. Each visit promises culinary delights and a memorable experience, ideally suited for fueling your adventures in the captivating town of Cooperstown.
“ I ordered the grilled prime rib melt w sharp cheddar cheese & crispy fried onions on a toasted hard roll; sides of roasted garlic aioli w fries and the picture is the result of me writing this. It was brutal and absurdly delicious, definitely more than I was expecting. I would eat that sandwich 100 days in a row, the quality of the rib is very superlative. I loved the vibe place too! They are doing their job well, Im glad for that ”
“ A great find in Cooperstown for breakfast or lunch. We tried both on a Monday ( closed for dinner Sun-Mon ) Highly recommended ”
“ Great diner in the perfect location. We had lunch and breakfast the next day. Lunch service was dreadful. Our sever lacked communication and was a little rude. Food was great both meals. ”
“ Stopped in for a bite after visiting the Baseball Hall of Fame. We were seated pretty quickly and waitress was very friendly. Food was tasty and fresh! Great spot and quick walk from the museum. Definitely recommend! ”
“ Came here for breakfast waiting for the baseball Hall of Fame to open up which is right next door. You won't be disappointed. Have the number for two eggs, sausage patty, French toast. OMG I am stuffed. The prices are so reasonable compared to other tourist areas. Come early find, parking early, have breakfast and enjoy main Street while you're dining in one of the best cafes of Cooperstown. ( For Breakfast) ”
“ 5/5 Stars – A Cozy, Honest Breakfast Spot in the Heart of Cooperstown We had a wonderful breakfast at Doubleday Cafe and walked away genuinely impressed with the entire experience. It’s a charming, welcoming spot right in the heart of town—clean, friendly, and refreshingly down-to-earth. It feels like one of those places that knows exactly what it is and doesn’t try too hard, which is part of the appeal. The service was warm and efficient without being overbearing. We were seated quickly, coffee came fast, and our meals were out in a reasonable time—even with a healthy morning crowd. I ordered an omelette, and it was just right: perfectly cooked, with fresh ingredients and a good balance of flavor. It’s easy for a simple breakfast dish to be forgettable, but this one hit all the right notes. One thing we really appreciated was the pricing. With so many tourist-heavy spots around, it’s easy to expect a bit of sticker shock—but not here. Everything felt fairly priced, especially considering the quality and the location. Overall, the vibe of the place is what will bring us back. It’s laid-back but thoughtful, and it has the kind of energy that makes you want to linger just a little longer over your coffee. Whether you’re heading to the Hall of Fame or just looking for a solid breakfast in Cooperstown, Doubleday Cafe is a great choice. Highly recommend stopping in—you won’t be disappointed. ”
“ Visited on April 27 2024 Came in for dinner. Seated immediately, served drinks immediately. They do have specials, seems they sell out quickly going by what I heard a waitress tell someone else ordering. We weren’t having specials but selling out is a good thing!!! I had a cheeseburger and it was outstanding. It was very well stacked. They don’t skimp on anything. Made to my preference of medium. Pic in my review. The wait staff was outstanding, always checking on us. Was fairly busy at this time. We got to sit right in the window which is a great spot, get to see all the passerbys and also a little private. Got to see the bartender as well, she was all over the place as were all the waitresses. Excellent staff. Would recommend!!! ”
“ What a great place to eat. The service was fantastic and our server did a great job of keeping everything filled. The chicken sandwich and Quesadilla we had were great. I would definitely recommend this place. Loved the atmosphere and all of the nostalgic pictures on the walls ”
